Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a space to slow things down and begin paying attention to what is happening beneath the surface. Often, people come into this space feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or worn down from trying to manage things on their own for a long time. Sometimes there’s a clear reason for reaching out, and sometimes there isn’t…. just a sense that something isn’t working the way it used to.
In individual therapy, we work one-on-one over time to better understand your experiences, the patterns that show up for you, and how past and present stressors may be shaping the way you feel, think, and respond.
What the Work Often Looks Like
Sessions tend to unfold gradually and thoughtfully. Rather than jumping quickly into problem-solving, we spend time noticing what’s coming up for you - emotionally, cognitively, and physically-and how those responses make sense given your history and current circumstances.
Some sessions may involve talking through current stressors or relationships. Other times, the focus may be on slowing down enough to notice internal cues, patterns of self-talk, or familiar responses that show up when things feel hard. What we focus on can shift from week to week, depending on what feels most relevant and supportive.
There is room here for uncertainty, for figuring things out as we go, and for moving at a pace that feels manageable.
How Change Tends to Happen Over Time
Early in therapy, the work often centers on building a sense of safety, understanding what brings you in, and identifying what feels most important to attend to. As therapy continues, clients often begin to notice increased awareness of their internal experiences and a growing ability to pause, reflect, and respond with more intention.
Change doesn’t usually happen all at once, and it doesn’t always look linear. The focus is less on “fixing” and more on developing steadier ways of relating to yourself, your emotions, and your life, especially during moments that once felt overwhelming or unmanageable.
How I Work
My approach to individual therapy is trauma-informed, integrative, and collaborative. I draw from a range of evidence-based and regulation-focused approaches, including elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR-informed work, psychoeducation, and nervous-system-aware strategies.
These are used flexibly and intentionally, based on what feels most supportive in the moment. I pay close attention to pacing, readiness, and your capacity, allowing the work to unfold in a way that feels grounded rather than forced.
Who This Space Is For
Individual therapy may be helpful if you’re navigating anxiety, trauma-related experiences, ADHD, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of feeling stuck or disconnected. I work primarily with adolescents and adults who are looking for a thoughtful, supportive space to better understand themselves and develop more sustainable ways of coping.
You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin.
